Popular Chinese chain to open first overseas location near Toronto

A popular quick service chain from Beijing, with over 60 locations across China, is opening a Canadian location, marking the company's first overseas expansion.

Bingz was started in 2014 by two former coders working for Chinese tech giants, Tencent and Baidu. After working on their idea for some time, they decided to quit and go full time into the fast casual restaurant business. After years of success and rapid growth, the Chinese franchise is touching down in Toronto at the end of this month.

On the menu is their popular version of roujiamo, which is a popular street food from the Shaanxi province and is similar to a burger. The 'crispy burgers' ,as they call them, are filled with your choice of meat and is held in by a bun that is crisp, flaky, and tender on the inside. The crispy bun is what separates it from the traditional roujiamo, that usually uses a soft bun that is lightly pan-fried.

Their 'original pork' is made with 100 per cent Ontario-farmed pork that is slow-stewed with 32 different spices. They also have cumin pork, black pepper beef and a vegetarian option as well. You’ll also find some noodle dishes and a popular sour plum drink on the menu.

The new spot is hosting their soft opening tomorrow with their grand opening slated for May 27. Bingz is located at 3229 Highway 7 East in Markham, Ont.
