Popular Filipino restaurant to soft-launch third location in Little Manila tomorrow

Tinuno, one of Toronto's favourite spots for Filipino food, is expanding to open their third location, this time in Little Manila.

Beginning tomorrow, their soft launch will feature a limited number of their favourite menu items. Sasha Ortega, daughter of owner Cathy Ortega––known as "Tita Cathy"––says the team behind Tinuno is excited to open their doors in this vibrant community, mentioning how many customers acknowledged they would be a great fit in the neighbourhood, previously asking them why they never opened there to begin with.

Drop by and say hi at the group's new digs to welcome them to the neighbourhood and take advantage of the promotions they're offering. Find a kamayan feast for two that includes pork barbecue skewers, "bangus" or milkfish, squid, shrimp, mussels, liempo, okra, eggplant and mango salad on a bed of garlic rice for only $30, and four pieces of barbecue skewers for only $5.

With Tinuno popping up in various spaces across the city recently, one may be curious as to when their sister restaurant Tala will reopen again. Though finding a temporary home with Tinuno, Tala had to close a few months ago after being pushed out of their space due to building redevelopments downtown, leaving customers wondering when they'll be operating out of their own storefront again.

"Funny enough, through the process of finding a spot for Tala, we found two for Tinuno," Ortega says, "With Tala, we are being a little bit more specific about the right opportunity... location, size, et cetera. We haven’t given up and we’re optimistically waiting for 'the one.'"

You can find Tinuno in downtown Toronto at 31 Howard Street, in Scarborough Town Centre at 520 Progress Avenue and now in North York in Little Manila at 3520 Bathurst Street. Tinuno and Tala are also available on various delivery platforms.

Keep an eye out for potential pop-up appearances by Tala in the new space, by following Tinuno on Instagram and be sure to visit their website here.

Though pre-ordering kamayan sets for two from Tinuno ends today, they're still accepting walk-in orders that will have to be cash-only, as a result of still getting settled in their new space. Tinuno's soft launch in their new shop in Little Manila is running from June 3 until June 8 and they'll be open from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.
