The most sought after ice-cream in Toronto is officially [kind of] opening their new storefront tomorrow.

Ruru Baked announced over social media that their next pint drop will be available this upcoming weekend, and can be pre-ordered and picked up at their new storefront in Bloordale Village.

The shop said in their post that there are a few kinks left to iron out at their new location, which boasts 1,300 square feet of operating space––a large upgrade from the 100 square foot space out of Empire Espresso, which they left before the start of the new year.

Owner Luanne Ronquillo founded the business back in 2017, but it really started taking off in the summer of 2020 as a pop-up and “pint-drop” concept.

“The pandemic, I say this as humbly as possible, created the perfect storm and led to the success of my business,” she told TasteToronto in October. “All of these things just worked in our favour."

She also said that with the new space, she expects to double her production. The latest pint-drop will feature a limited abundance of pints available every day for four days straight. From Thursday to Sunday, approximately 200 pints of their ice-cream will be available to order on their website. Each drop will happen at 2:30 p.m.

Due to high demand, the shop is going with a limited offering and pre-order platform to avoid the chance of an unsafe crowd or lack of social distancing at the new store. They will also not be holding onto or refunding any pint that is not picked up. You can order up to four pints at a time.

Ruru Baked will take over the space previously used by another popular ice-cream shop, the Lansdowne Cone, which was regrettably forced out by the landlords in the 2020. The Lansdowne Cone has fortunately found a new home out of Paint Box Bistro.

The Ruru Baked storefront is located at 659 Lansdowne Avenue in Bloordale Village.
