Popular west end bar closing permanently

With just over a year under its belt, the beloved, nautical-themed Port Light on Bloor will be closing on Thursday, December 22.

Port Light recently announced its closure via Instagram, alongside a small gallery of images reflecting on its time.

"With a heavy heart we have to make this announcement," reads the post. "Port Light will be closing December 22nd. It’s been a wild ride opening up a business in the middle of a pandemic."

"Though it wasn’t easy, we made an amazing bar and created an amazing family," continues the post.

"First and foremost thank you to all our staff. You don’t know what you all mean to me. Thank you to all our patrons who supported us and made Bloor street a bit brighter. Make it count. Come through! Open till December 22nd."

Port Light opened in June 2021, and is known for its boozy tropical cocktails, vacation vibes and delicious bites, sharing many of the same items on its menu as its sister bar The Shameful Tiki Room, brought to the city by Toronto mixologist Alana Nogueda.

Be sure to stop by and grab a Mai Tai to experience Port Light in the last days before its closure.

Port Light is located at 946 Bloor Street West, and its hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 5 p.m. to midnight, and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., closed Monday and Tuesday.
