Southern and Caribbean inspired barbecue is the mainstay at this new pop-up

There's a new pop-up in Toronto specializing in Southern and Caribbean inspired barbecue. Southern Crown Caribbean Smokehouse just opened in Riverside and is owned by chefs Kyle McClure and Barrington Graham, who have been in the industry for over seven years. Now they're bringing their experience and love for comfort soul food to the east end neighbourhood.

McClure and Graham opened Lob Toronto back in 2018 but were forced to close in 2020 due to the pandemic. They plan on opening a full-service restaurant in 2022 but will be operating as a pop-up out of the Lob Toronto kitchen for the time being.

You'll find an array of traditional Caribbean fare on the menu, including rotis, curried goat and oxtail. But if you're hankering for some BBQ instead, they've got you covered too. The Smoked Cola Braised Beef or Carolina Vinegar Pulled Pork sandwich with jerk aioli are their most popular items from the smoker. Everything is hand-made from scratch, including their seasonings, sauces and sides.

The pop-up will be located at 100 Broadview Ave in Riverside. They will be open Wednesday to Sunday from 12 p.m.-8:30 p.m. for curbside pickup. They have only been open a couple of days and have sold out most items before close, so be sure to place orders in advance to avoid disappointment.
