The Heartbreak Chef is relocating to Dundas West

Jerome Robinson, aka The Heartbreak Chef, is relocating from his current location at 1316 Queen St West to 823 Dundas West on October 1. Jerome opened his Parkdale restaurant on March 7, 2020, one week before a citywide shutdown. With hard work, perseverance and support from his family and friends, Jerome managed to make it through the peak of the pandemic and successfully take his fried chicken sandwiches to cult status. Since opening and throughout the entirety of closures, Jerome and staff at The Heartbreak Chef continued to serve takeout and delivery and hungry customers never ceased to show their support for this local business during the pandemic.

Jerome's last day of serving at his beloved Parkdale location was September 16, 2020. To commemorate his exit, the restaurant served up enormous, juicy, flavourful fried chicken sandwiches for a special price of just $5. We are excited to see him reopen and succeed at his spot just west of Kensington Market.

"We just wanted a bit of a bigger space with catering starting back up. Our kitchen in Parkdale was just way too small. We tried staying in Parkdale, but [orders] were just way too big," Jerome tells TasteToronto. He also confirms that the menu will remain the same, so those who have yet to try out his classics will have a chance to at The Heartbreak Chef's new location.

Their menu includes classics like The Big Ass Chicken Sandwich, which is two pieces of their famous fried chicken tossed in Carolina butter sauce, topped with spicy ranch, sweet pickles and creamy slaw. If you want to go for something with a bit more of a kick, you can order the Dutty Chicken, his famous fried chicken tossed in an extra hot jerk sauce, topped with grilled pineapple creamy slaw. If you stop by at The Heartbreak Chef, you can't forget to add one of their insane sides to your order like deep-fried Brussel sprouts or cajun tater tots.

As Jerome prepares to move, his new neighbours are ready with open arms to welcome him to the neighbourhood.
