Toronto bar transforms into a Vegas-themed chapel of love Valentine's Day weekend helping you tie the knot

If you've ever dreamed of quickly getting hitched in Las Vegas' Wedding Chapel District, now's your chance to do so, without even leaving the city. On February 12 and 13 this year, Bar Mordecai, an intimate cocktail bar along Dundas Street West, is transforming one of their private rooms to bring you -- The Little Mordecai Chapel of Love.

After launching a few different pop-up concepts during the pandemic, the group wanted to try and do something different from anything they've done before.

"There are very few ways our actual space can have guests inside during a lockdown, but limited and distanced wedding ceremonies are allowed," says co-owner Emily Leblanc. "The pieces started coming together from there."

With a space already designed to emulate the aesthetics of Wes Anderson's films, Bar Mordecai has four private rooms, one of which is actually named the Vegas Room. Accurately decked out to fit the vibes of Rat Pack era Las Vegas, their elopement package includes a slew of iconic Vegas wedding chapel staples and can accommodate up to eight people.

For your special day, all you need to bring is your marriage license from City Hall and your loved ones; Bar Mordecai will take care of the rest.

"Elopements and micro weddings are more bare-bones than an elaborate wedding ceremony, but we've tried to think of ways to make these ceremonies really special for those that book them," says Leblanc. "We'll even have an Elvis serenade, like a real Vegas chapel."

Further convincing you that getting married Las Vegas wedding chapel style is, in fact a good idea, their website reads:

"Worried that Sin City weddings only result in disaster marriages like Carmen Electra & Dennis Rodman? Don't forget that storied unions like those of Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward, Sarah Michelle Gellar & Freddie Prinze Junior, and Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos all began with a quickie ceremony on the strip."

Other aspects The Little Mordecai Chapel of Love will provide includes a legal officiant, a photographer for the main event, a photo session post-ceremony in the restaurant, a celebratory toast and a micro-reception. Be sure to check out their website for the full breakdown of what they're offering in their package.

While restaurants and bars are still closed for indoor dining, Bar Mordecai will continue to devise new fun pop-up ideas that you can stay in the loop with on their Instagram.
