In the face of the pandemic, the beloved Shook is making a comeback, more than a year after they closed their doors indefinitely.

Shook had opened in June of 2019 before temporarily closing down after they suffered a small kitchen fire just months after in September.

The restaurant, known for their Israeli-inspired vegetarian fare, announced in a press release they are reopening tomorrow on December 11, over a year after the fire. The reopened Shook, in accordance to how the hospitality industry is currently operating, are offering an array of new features.

“We feel very fortunate to have tremendous support and excitement around our reopening,” says Hanif Harji, the founder and CEO of Scale Hospitality.

Shook has partnered with local artisans and suppliers to offer a diverse and locally-driven marketplace. Shoppers can look forward to a hand-picked selection of homeware, potted plants, cookbooks, apparel and specialty foods and spices.

On the food front, Shook is offering old favourites as well new dishes from the executive chef, Ben Heaton. The Mezze Experience ($65) will be a new addition to the menu as a shareable plate for two, featuring an assortment of small plates, dips and salads.

With their reopening, Shook has stated they are focusing on sustainable practices, inspiring them to partner with environmentally-conscious artisans and suppliers.

Orders from Shook are available for takeout or delivery and can be made through their online platforms on third-party delivery apps.
