Toronto's movie theatre turned wine bar is now open

Bloordale's, The Paradise Theatre has transformed into a trendy Italian tavern with a heated patio and wine shop.

After the city imposed a second lockdown, prohibiting indoor dine-in and movie theatres, The Paradise Theatre converted their box office into a wine and bottle shop, open everyday from 3 p.m.-9 p.m. The bottle shop features a collection of local and international wines, including wines from Beamsville's famed Tawse Winery.

The shop also has a selection of local cured meats, Quebec cheese, house marinated olives, Blackbird sourdough and other concession favourites, like freshly popped popcorn.

The theatre's restaurant, Osteria Rialto boasts a stunning patio with heated benches and a retractable roof with classic Italian eats, from fresh buffalo mozzarella to ricotta cavatelli.

The art deco inspired restaurant is open for patio dining and takeout Wednesday through Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

While the theatre will not be screening movies in person anytime soon, The Paradise Theatre has launched an online streaming service where customers can purchase tickets of newly released movies and watch them off the theatre's website. Each ticket sold will provide a front line worker or first responder with two tickets to enjoy a movie once theatres reopen.

Get your bottle of wine and cozy up with your quarantine buddy for dinner and a movie, from the comfort of your own couch this weekend.
