The White Brick Kitchen closes after 8 years

In what seems like a constant stream of sad news for Toronto restaurants, another beloved spot has announced its closure due to COVID-related circumstances.

The White Brick Kitchen, located in Koreatown, is known for having some of the best fried chicken in town and a killer brunch menu. They took to their Instagram account over the weekend to share the unfortunate news of their closure, which came after they decided to open back up post-lockdown in late June and resume service for only one short month.

Following eight years on Bloor Street, the owners were reminded of how critical family time is after being forced to stay at home during quarantine and getting a taste for life without 14-hour workdays. Although their main reason for shutting down is not in the typical vein of financial struggles (like we've seen from many others), you can't blame hard-working restaurant owners for wanting to spend more time with family and friends.

They thanked all of their current and former employees for making The White Brick Kitchen what it was, as well as the customers who have shown them endless support over the years. Their impossibly crispy fried chicken (with optional waffles), loaded sandwiches, breakfast poutine, eggs bennies and indulgent donuts will be greatly missed. They did provide some guidance on where to snag similar chicken in town by shouting out The Stockyards and Chica's Chicken on their Instagram account.

If you want to pop in and say farewell before The White Brick Kitchen permanently closes, you can head over there tomorrow, where they'll be selling their decor and artwork from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
