Wickedly popular Toronto Thai restaurant closes after employee tests positive for COVID-19

Pai has temporarily closed its doors after a staff member tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

In a candid statement on Instagram, the popular Thai eatery announced that one of their kitchen staff has tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member last worked on Monday, August 3, and is now quarantining at home.

Out of precaution, the full team at Pai is also getting tested and is currently in self-isolation. The restaurant was shut down immediately for deep sanitation and will remain closed until further notice.

The closure comes just days after the restaurant welcomed diners back inside.

"We wanted to go that extra mile to make sure we are providing a safe environment for [guests]," says Jeff Regular, co-owner of Pai, in a separate Instagram post showing the newly added partitions and socially distanced tables in the restaurant.

With the safety of staff and guest as the utmost importance, the Pai team has announced that they "will only reopen when [they] feel it is safe to do so and only with team members who have tested negative".

In the meantime, Thai food enthusiasts can dine at Pai's sister restaurant, Sabai Sabai which just recently reopened for dine.
