Baseball is back, and Rogers Centre is ready to greet fans with an entirely new food and games platform. From Hungarian sausages to a literal candy wall, the newly-opened Outfield District literally has it all. Options include The Stop, which is inspired by easy-to-grab eats from places along the subway line and offers Jamaican Beef Patties, Banh Mi Sandwiches and a Cold Brew Martini, and Park Social, inspired by food trucks and offering Churros and an ACE’s Milkshakes.
Chain eatery Chop Steakhouse & Bar is elevating their feature menu, taking inspiration from global cuisines and putting it all in one place. The brand’s new Steak Masters feature includes menu items like Spicy Beef Bai, Sous Vide Filet, Smoked Sirloin Picanha and Belgian Chocolate Lava Cake, and is curated by Executive Chef Stephen Clark.
“I am fortunate to have been able to travel to various parts of the world, and on each trip, no matter the destination, I am fascinated by the cuisine,” Clark said in a press release. “Specifically, how the ingredients may be the same as we have here, but the take on the dishes are completely different.”
The menu is available at all Chop locations across Canada for a limited, ten week run. It officially launched on April 13.
A love letter to Queen West's oldest family diner, Skyline will have its world premiere this month at Hot Docs, North America's largest documentary film festival. Running 7 minutes long, the short indie film was among a handful selected from close to 3000 submissions for the festival. A collaboration between director JR Reid, producers Ivy Knight and Yvonne Tsui, and Skyline Restaurant owners Maggie and Jud Ruhl, the movie centres on a day in the life of the nostalgic eatery. Skyline will have its world premiere at the TIFF Bell Lightbox on April 30th at 6:30 p.m. For tickets, visit Hotdocs.ca.
After months of anticipation, Black + Blue has arrived. With the opening of Margo on April 25th, the journey from Toronto to the Mediterranean is suddenly a mere four-storey elevator ride away. Located on the 4th floor of private member's club Clio, at 600 King Street West, Margo is set to offer guests a menu inspired by the Mediterranean Coast, the Iberian Peninsula and the shores of Lebanon. Flaunting top-tier ingredients from the land and the sea, the menu will range from Whole Lobster Linguine and Grilled Octopus to Ontario Rack of Lamb and a colossal 30oz Prime Dry-Aged Ribeye, served with olive chimichurri and veal jus. A robust wine program includes a dedicated section featuring unique varietals from different Mediterranean countries, such as Spain, Greece, Lebanon, and more. In addition, Margo's cocktail menu will feature innovative creations as vibrant and flavourful as the Mediterranean itself. Only time will tell if the Amara,a refreshing cocktail featuring Greek Tsipouro, or a gold-flecked take on a French 75 named the Viola will become the It drink of the season. Open to the public for brunch and dinner, Margo is now accepting reservations through Opentable.ca.
