Etobicoke's favourite Italian bakery and a Toronto institution -- SanRemo Bakery -- is known for doling out tarts, cakes, breads, donuts and more! We were all sad to see them close their doors in efforts to help curb the spread of COVID-19 but thankfully the bakery has shared Ed's recipe for Italian sweet bread -- just in time to celebrate Easter!
Check out the original recipe below and make sure to enter in SanRemo's Italian sweet bread challenge on Instagram and tag them for a chance to win a $50 gift card. The contest ends on April 15, 2020. Also check out Ed's tutorial video below for a step-by-step guide on how to make the bread.
Method
Sweet Bread 7 Steps
-
Step 1
Place all dry ingredients into your mixer and mix on low speed.

Leave to sit in a bowl for 45 minutes covered with a damp cloth.
-
Step 4
Cut the dough into 4oz to 6oz pieces. Knead the dough to remove extra air, (test consistency of dough with "window effect"). Let balls sit for 15 minutes.
-
Step 5
Proof and place on baking sheet.
-
Step 6
