A total passion project from husband-and-wife team Navid Farzannezhad and his wife, Sovily is exactly the kind of all-day neighbourhood spot Queen West needed. They designed and built out the space themselves - custom wall art, handmade details throughout - and it shows, with notebooks and pencil crayons at each table for the littles who tag along.
The dough is the whole story here: a sourdough starter proofed for two days, built on Farzannezhad's Iranian tradition of breadmaking layered with an Italian-style approach. It shows up everywhere - thin-crust pizzas, hulking pizza sandwiches like the roast beef, and a breakfast menu that goes big with dishes like a protein omelette stuffed with beef sausage, pastrami, and fried onions.
Open daily 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., steps from Trinity Bellwoods, it covers the full range from early espresso runs to dinner-hour slices - a genuine neighbourhood fixture, not just a pizza spot.
