A cafe in Koreatown was broken into on Christmas Day

A Japanese-style cafe in Koreatown is turning to the public for help after they experienced a break-in on Christmas Day.

Known for their coffee and dorayaki, Ninetails Coffee Bar is a small family-owned business that’s been struggling to stay afloat ever since the pandemic and even more so now after the robbery.

The incident occurred just a little over an hour after they closed for the day on December 25. The robber was able to steal all of their holiday earnings in the cash register, an envelope full of tips and the business’s brand new laptop all under five minutes. To make matters worse, their lock system was compromised, which adds to the thousands of dollars lost.

This month marks their one year anniversary and what lies ahead for them is still unclear, although the possibility of permanently closing is becoming a daunting reality.

GoFundMe page has been created to cover the robbery expenses, including the installation of a new lock to continue to keep the business alive.

Ninetails Coffee Bar is also asking for the community’s help in creating awareness of the incident to catch the robber. Details of the robber can be found on their Instagram or GoFundMe page.
