If you’ve been craving some spice, tomorrow’s your chance to get your fill. The Spice Food & Wine Festival at stackt market will bring together the art of wine pairings with dishes from 30 ethnic food vendors showcasing a range of “spice-y” cuisines, including Caribbean, African, Indian, Thai, Latin American and more. Visitors will be able to try some exciting wine pairings and learn about the science behind each through breakout seminars throughout the day.

This special festival is a part of the Spice Food & Wine Series put together by a team of African-Caribbean diasporic individuals with a passion for wine, including sommelier candidate Beverly Crandon. With a goal to “highlight the beauty in ethnicity, cuisine, and wine,” they work with local chefs, wine importers and wineries to build “new and inclusive narratives around wine.”

The first event of this season's series took place at Patois, where Chef Craig Wong crafted a 5-course meal and the perfect wine pairings to complement his Chinese-Jamaican dishes.

Their second event, called “The Social,” will be a full-day, walk-around experience where visitors can sample as many varieties of food and wine pairings as they’d like. Expect tasty cuisines, curated wines, and energetic music in what will surely be a lively outdoor atmosphere.

Spring Into Spice’s “The Social” will be happening this Saturday, May 28 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. at stackt market on 28 Bathurst St. Tickets for general admission, food and wine sample tickets, and pairing seminars are on sale now via Eventbrite.
