Grape Witches is fundraising to support education of Black wine professionals

Grape Witches, a celebrated Toronto wine agency and curator is currently hosting its second annual GW Scholarship fundraising event.

The goal of this scholarship is to provide higher education and mentorship for Black wine professionals. More specifically, this initiative acknowledges the existence of barriers within the wine industry for the Black community, and in response, this program focusses on development, covers tuition fees, includes virtual mentorship from BIPOC wine leaders across North America and a paid internship at a local winery as well as with Grape Witches.

This year, Grape Witches worked alongside the 2019 scholarship recipient and wine professional, Jaby, to help the program flourish.

Grape Witches has made a raffle donation of six of their most delightful natural wines, which have been sold out for quite some time. It is $10 for one ticket and $20 for three tickets, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going towards the scholarship fund. The raffle is open until midnight on April 16, and the winner will be announced the next day on April 17.

Not only is Grape Witches hosting the online scholarship raffle, but they are also donating $1 towards the Scholarship for every bottle sold during the entire month of April, both in-store and online. In-store purchases can be made at 1247 Dundas Street West.

Grape Witches was started four years ago by a group of industry veterans. Their goal is to share great wine created by small producers from all over the world, with a specific focus on natural wines. They intend to highlight the unique flavours, ethical farming practices and overall experience these wines have to offer to make natural wine more 'approachable and available.'

Founded in 2015 by Nicole Campbell and Krysta Oben, Grape Witches commenced as a sequence of events where rare, organic, biodynamic and natural wines were shared. Over time, Grape Witches has hosted a range of events as well as specialized in natural wine education and the curation of monthly mixed wine packs.

In 2020, they started their own agency, known as Grape Witch Imports, as well as opened a bottle shop called Grape Glass.

Don't miss out on this opportunity from now until April 16 to support an amazing cause and get some great wine in return!
