Otherside Pizza opens in the Beaches

Otherside Pizza opens in the Beaches to a hearty welcome for their seven signature pies. They offer New York-style thin-crust pizza with a punchy take on the classics and more creative flavours. Owners Dave and Marjorie reside nearby, and their business partner Crosby has a background in pizza. Despite their success from a pop-up in Oshawa, the team couldn't anticipate the volume of orders they received since opening a couple of weeks ago.

A resident of the Beaches neighbourhood eats a slice of King Roni, Queen Margarita's meaty counterpart: "Chain restaurants don't do well in our community. We like supporting local — eating food from a real place with a story."

Otherside's standard pies include The Kevin, a signature mozzarella that would please the McCallister household at Christmas, and Mikey, a meaty Canadian pizza with bacon, mushrooms and pepperoni. "You think of a Canadian guy, and you know his name is Mike," says Marjorie. She smiles while holding her and Dave's beautiful baby Nora. The Nora pizza offers a delicious Korean-Italian mashup: bulgogi and kimchi aioli with garlic ricotta and crisp red onions.

Dave suggests ordering well before pizza night while they set up delivery options on their website. A bright arugula salad, warm garlic fingers, and velvety sauces can accompany any pizza.

Otherside Pizza is located at 1911 Queen Street East. It's open from Wednesday to Monday between 12 p.m. and 10 p.m.
