Parkdale wine bar closes down temporarily amidst Toronto lockdown

Nice Nice, a local Parkdale wine-and-burger spot, announced on their Instagram they are closing their doors indefinitely.

The closure comes at a time when many small businesses are struggling to adapt to lockdown restrictions. For Nice Nice, their business model is built on indoor dining, social events and community––a concept that is difficult to weather the COVID storm during Toronto's current restrictions.

“Unfortunately bottle shop life just isn’t what Nice Nice is cut out for,” the bar wrote in an Instagram caption.

Nice Nice was a project brought to life by the people behind the popular wine bar Paris Paris. and burgers provided by neighbouring Extra Burger

Their motto “come for the wine, stay for the burgers” can be seen boasted throughout their social media posts when they first opened in January.

Nice Nice was met by a lot of community support, and urged their patrons to continue supporting local business, including Paris Paris and Extra Burger––which are still open for business.

They continue to be optimistic, thanking their customers from this past summer who visited their patio and saying they “cannot wait to be able to do so again in the not too distant future!”
