The Shameful Tiki Room is bringing their new venture Port Light to life

Looking for a tropical getaway? Escape to Port Light this summer for tropical cocktails and delicious bites.

Port Light makes a range of tropical cocktails, some of which can be found at The Shameful Tiki Room, as well as brand new ones. For these beverages, they take classic recipes and designs and elevate them using fresh ingredients and house-made syrups. For instance, they have a "Gillman’s Gulp" cocktail with Cachaça, white rum, matcha infused sake, house pistachio orgeat and lemon juice.

In terms of the food, they share a kitchen with Ambassador Pizza, meaning they have a great selection of flatbreads and other snacks, such as the Spiced Beef Sesame Pide Flatbread with tzatziki, tomato, cucumber and tabbouleh.

Toronto mixologist Alana Nogueda is the co-owner of The Shameful Tiki Room and Legal Tenders. She has been working towards opening this location for while. In fact, they took over the space in September 2020, but due to the pandemic, they were only able to open as of mid-June. However, the timing now is almost perfect, since everyone wants to get out and explore, and as Nogueda pointed out, Port Light is the "closest thing to a vacation in this city."

The name of the new joint speaks to the nautical atmosphere of the space and also refers to the classic tiki cocktail known as a Port Light.

At this time, they are functioning on a first come first serve basis, and plan on accepting reservations once indoor dining is permitted. Their hours are Wednesday and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. This tropical escape is located at 946 Bloor Street West.
