There's a new cafe specializing in Taiwanese baked goods and Shokupan

On the hunt for a unique and local bakery that uses all-natural ingredients? Look no further than La Petite Colline and ShanShan Cafe, a bakery restaurant specializing in Taiwanese premium handmade baked goods.

La Petite Colline and ShanShan Cafe value freshness, nutrition, simplicity and, of course, taste. With that being said, they have a rigorous ingredient selection and product creation process. Raw materials such as Canadian stone mortar ground organic wheat and natural yeast cultivated in-house are precisely chosen and hand-kneaded into their products.

One of their specialties is Japanese milk bread or Nama Shokupan, which is a soft and fluffy bread that is commonly sold in Japan and Taiwan. This type of bread originated in Japan and is made with all-natural dough that is created using a particular kneading technique. The bread is baked based on specific timing and temperature to generate a unique softness.

Their homemade Nama Shokupan is used as the bread for their Toasts which comes in various flavours, including Ham & Cheese, Creamy Mushroom and BBQ Ribeye.

For their beverages, La Petite Colline and ShanShan Cafe use high-quality coffee beans from Canadian growers. They also make a variety of tea-based blended drinks. The tea is sourced from Taiwan, and these beverages include no syrups or additives in order to emphasize the rich culture surrounding tea.

The chef, Vivi Ju, has practiced breadmaking for 13 years and is devoted to using natural and additive-free bread. In 2009, Ju graduated from the Baking Management Department of National Kaohsiung Hospitality University. He then continued on to win the Live Bakery Silver Award in 2011; the HOFEX live breadmaking competition at the Hong Kong Food Exhibition. From 2010 to 2015, Ju was the head chef at Shakespeare Bakery in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where he worked alongside the founder to advance his baking techniques.

Located at 3355 Steeles Avenue East, La Petite Colline and ShanShan Cafe is open from Wednesday to Monday from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. To view the rest of their products or place an order, visit their online system.
