This Toronto restaurant has just reopened for the first time since the pandemic

Mineral restaurant has officially reopened as of Wednesday, June 23. Due to the pandemic, they had previously only been open for a total of 4 months before the onset of lockdowns.

With the reopening comes a new menu, specifically tailored for patio dining. Highlights include the cold bar, which will be full of seafood options such as raw oysters, cocktail shrimp and ceviche.

Owners Bruce Ly (of Voodoo Child and Neo Coffee Bar) and Greg Toskan-Robbins came from a strong coffee background and their original vision for Mineral was to create a wine and coffee bar. The name mineral speaks to their focus on coffee and wine. For instance, they have an in-house water filtration system that introduces new minerals to the coffee to elevate the flavours.

The dining aspect was later introduced and is curated by executive chef Daniel Cancino. Daniel is influenced by all parts of the city and as a result, created Mineral's unique "Toronto cuisine." He has worked in the city for 12 years and, over time, has found Toronto's influence shape his cooking. However, Daniel also came from a Filipino and Chinese background, which is also incorporated into his cooking.

Mineral also has a bottle shop that opens at 1 p.m. Their curated beer and wine selection are determined by the season and what pairs well with their menu. They feature natural wines as well as local and international beverages. Their current seasonal favourite is the bright, fun and refreshing Leaning Post Rosé. This wine is excellent for summer and pairs very well with their menu.

Their hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 4:30 pm to 9:30 pm and reservations can be made on OpenTable.
