10 Unexpected GTA Restaurants With Great Plant-based Options

Plant-based food isn't just a trend or a diet for a select few -- plant-based food has evolved dramatically, and more people are opting for vegan or flexitarian diets for a multitude of reasons!

Many establishments have shown their dedication, flexibility and creativity when developing delicious plant-based dishes. Some are known for their plant-based fare, while others strive to be inclusive to all guests, even those with dietary restrictions and preferences.

So, whether you're on the hunt for hidden plant-based gems across Toronto -- or just menu items that are totally unexpected, at restaurants you may not know about yet -- here is a list of some spots you need to check out!

On Third Thought

What's better than vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free and sesame-free gelato? The answer is nothing. Every single flavour of gelato at On Third Thought is handcrafted with care and tastes amazing. Many guests have no idea that this is an allergen-friendly establishment. They have rotational flavours, classics and alcohol-infused flavours. Crowd-pleasers from the past two years of operations are Cookies and Cream, Mango, Pina Colada, Watermelon and Birthday Cake. Juicy, cheesy and piled high (with waffle fries on the side), Mavericks is a great destination for vegan burger enthusiasts!
