Cajun Popcorn Shrimp

Method

Cajun Popcorn Shrimp 7 Steps

  • Step 1

    In a medium bowl, add flour, 3 teaspoons cajun seasoning and salt. Mix well.

  • Step 2

    Pour half of the flour mixture into a large Ziploc bag, reserve the rest.

  • Step 3

    Add the shrimp to the bag and shake until each shrimp is coated with flour. Shake off any excess flour.

  • Step 4

    In a small bowl, add eggmilk and 1 teaspoon cajun seasoning. Mix well.

  • Step 5

    Dredge the floured shrimp in the egg mixture, then coat with the reserved seasoned flour mixture from the large bowl.

  • Step 6

    Heat neutral oil in a heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F.

  • Step 7

    Fry shrimp for a few minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Remove onto a paper towel-lined plate and sprinkle with salt.

Cajun Popcorn Shrimp

  • 1 pound shrimp (455 grams), deveined and peeled

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (125 grams)

  • 4 teaspoons cajun seasoning 

  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste depending on cajun seasoning

  • 1 large egg

  • 3 tablespoons whole milk

Spicy Lime Mayo

  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha 

  • 4 tablespoons mayo

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • Juice from 1 lime

  • Salt and pepper, to taste
