Oklahoma-Style Fried Onion Burger

2 Steps

  • Step 1

Heat up a large cast iron pan lightly coated in oil over high heat until almost smoking. Place ground beef into pan, season with salt and pepper, add a generous handful of onions to top of ball and press down firmly with a heavy spatula until flattened. Cook for 2 minutes or until nicely browned and then flip to other side. Season again with salt and pepper. Let cook for 1 minute and then add cheese.

  • Step 2

Add top bun and place bottom bun inverted on top, allowing it to steam. Transfer bottom bun to plate, top with pickles or desired condiments and then carefully scoop patty and top bun onto the bottom bun. Enjoy!
