Spaccio

The moment you have all been waiting for: a behind the scenes look at the biggest of Terroni’s many kitchens. On Monday, March 2, 2020 Terroni officially opens its doors to reveal Spaccio -- Terroni's and Sud Forno’s central kitchen, caffè and storefront.

For years, Terroni Adelaide made all the fresh pasta; Sud Forno Queen the desserts; Sud Forno Temperance the bread and so on. Spaccio will now serve as the main kitchen where quality ingredients are used to make delicious food from scratch. The food will be made in this massive kitchen space and distributed to the growing number of Terroni restaurants throughout the city. Spaccio will allow for consistency and efficiency in the restaurant group's production.

The Space:

Spaccio

The 13,000 sq/ft production kitchen is located just west of the DVP. As you dine or shop at Spaccio, you can watch the artistry that goes behind every piece of pasta, every loaf of bread and every intricate dessert. The space has enormously high ceilings and a kitchen that is separated from the store front by glass doors.

Spaccio

The caffè is designed so that you may place your order at the front, grab your food and head to the two-floor dining area. Customers may also be given a number and have hot food served at their seat by friendly wait staff. On the topmost floor of this seating area, diners get the best view of this intricate production kitchen as they enjoy the traditional taste of Italian cuisine that Terroni restaurants are notable for.

The Menu:

Spaccio

You can dine-in at the store front's caffè for breakfast or lunch. Expect similar menu items as offered at Sud Forno and Terroni. There are the classic desserts like Nutella and cream bombolinis, an assortment of tarts and rotating salads and pizzas. There is also a daily rotating pasta, which is made fresh to order using the kitchen's phenomenal sauces, like their slowly cooked bolognese.

Spaccio

Assorted mini desserts: includes desserts like mini Cannoli Italian pastry filled with chocolate ricotta, pistachio and candied orange peel; flourless mini chocolate torte; hazelnut and pistachio filled cream puffs and fruit and chocolate tarts.

You may also shop for Italian products or grab food to go. Spaccio sells aged and fresh cheeses, freshly baked breads, homemade pasta, pasta sauces, sweet and savoury pastries and pre-packaged gelato. All Terroni and Sud Forno products are available at this location at wholesale prices.

Corktown residents are more than thrilled as a Terroni restaurant -- a Toronto staple -- makes its way into the neighbourhood.  Make sure to plan a visit soon for this Italian dining experience with a show.
