These are the Best New Patios Opening this Summer

With warm weather season in sight, people across the city are preparing for one of the best summer past-times: hanging out on patios. There's fewer fine things in life than enjoying a refreshing sangria and munching on some shareables with good company, and the time is, finally, upon us. As Toronto's food scene grows at lightning speed, there are a ton of new patios that are brand new this season. Check out the ones we're most excited about below.

22 Sackville St

Spaccio West

As a part of the Terroni Group, this eatery is similar to its east-end counterpart (aptly called Spaccio East). It offers a mercato, a sit-down space and a patio that allows guests to take in all of the fine dining and hearty flavours Italy has to offer. It's rustic and covered in string lights, which fits the neighbourhood vibe perfectly.

97 Harbord St

Parquet

Another French bistro takes over the city, and the patio is its own unique space. It's separated from the inside by accordion doors that slide open when the weather is nice, and accommodates a whopping 50 guests that can overlook Robert Street.

1320 Queen St W

Chantecler Restaurant

The famous Toronto eatery is back and better than ever after that devastating fire. And, the brand-new patio is giant and overlooks Christie Pitts Park. With the re-opening, you can enjoy the same great food that made Toronto fall in love with Chantecler for the summer season and beyond.

51 floors above the city, AP offers some of the best views of the entire city, and some of the most acclaimed eats in the country. Sweeping views of the skyline take on a new meaning when you're dining in a building--the Manulife Centre--that's literally in the middle of it all.

Danny's Pizza Tavern

This is the first time Danny's Pizza Tavern will be able to open their patio for the full summer, as it only got a few short weeks of sunshine last year. The massive back space is decorated with plenty of plants and umbrellas, and the picnic-style tables encourage a more casual pizza experience.

Bitter Melon

Sure, it's not an official patio, because it's technically inside. But, the indoor garden at Bitter Melon is located beneath a skylight and can be enjoyed all year long, regardless of the weather. There's tons of greenery to take pictures of, and you don't have to worry about your napkins blowing away in the wind.

Nuna Kitchen and Bar

This Peruvian eatery in Parkdale offers a few front tables for people watching, but also an entire back patio that's slated to open for the summer season. Sip on some vacation-feeling cocktails and enjoy the handcrafted menu and enjoy everything that summer has to offer.

Earls Yorkdale

If you want to enjoy a quick drink post-shopping spree or have a snack before venturing on the dreaded 401, Earls' newest outpost is the spot for you. It's nothing if not convenient, and the massive patio has decor that seeps out from the west-coast-inspired interior.

Offworld Bar

This space-themed bar has a hidden gem in a rooftop patio. It's open for late-night beverages and offers an ideal spot to watch the sunset or have a deep conversation under the stars. And, The Mandalorian screens at the bar every Wednesday, so it's the perfect opportunity to enjoy a post-show cocktail this summer.

Taverne Tamblyn

Chef Ben Gundy opened a French bistro in a cute little Danforth building, and the covered patio and bustling bar are the perfect place to enjoy the inspired menu. Take a bite out of some beef bourguignon and sip on some stylish cocktails (like the Tamblyn Elixir) and enjoy patio season while staying cool and shady.

555 Dundas St E

Café ZUZU

Transport to 1950s Italy at Janet Zuccarini's newest eatery, located in Regent Park. Massive planters block the patio from the streets, and bright tables, intricate decorations and wicker chairs offer an authentic vibe. The hearty eats and fun cocktails are sure to satisfy every Italian food connoisseur, and the vibe brings the sun and good vibes. All that's missing is the view.

Located in Clarence Square, this cocktail bar has an intimate patio in a quiet neighbourhood with a view of the CN Tower. You're not too far from the action of King Street West, but far enough to enjoy a patio that's perfect for long conversations under the sunset. And, the whole thing is a historic space with fresh and seasonal cocktails and shareable bites.

Black and Blue Steakhouse

This new restaurant comes to the heart of the city all the way from Vancouver, and the stunning patio offers hanging flora and banquette seating the middle of modern black-and-white design. The windows can open when the weather is nice, but stay closed on the crisper days and nights, meaning it can last longer into the fall.

Located in Clio

Margo

Located in the private Clio space, the massive restaurant at 600 King Street W. also lets dining guests enjoy the members' patio during dinner service. This means the Mediterranean-inspired rooftop is available for enjoying the fresh meals like the Greek salad, Cornish hen, and fish.

50c Clinton St

Casa Paco

Though located in a small space, Casa Paco has made a big impression on the city. The tiny patio is an extension of the homey restaurant, offering an authentic feel and a neighbourhood view that's ideal for people watching. The patio is partially covered, but also offers shade courtesy of gorgeous, large trees in the middle of the space, which also have string lights dangling between them.
